herstory3If you missed out on The Long Beach QFilms Festival in September, or you didn’t miss out and you just can’t get enough, organizers have announced that an exclusive screening of the first full season of Her Story will be shown at the Art Theatre on Saturday, January 9 at 12:30PM, in partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA).

Her Story follows the lives of lesbian and trans women as they explore and experience the intersections between desire and identity, representing a diverse array of women’s lives underrepresented in mainstream media. Co-written and co-starring both transgender and cisgender women, the new media series is “a milestone in LGBTQ media development,” stated the announcement.

“From Transparent to Tangerine, it’s been great to see more and more films and TV shows put a deeper focus on trans women’s lives and relationships of all kinds,” stated GALECA Association President John Griffiths. “It’s also nice to see more trans characters actually played by trans performers. So, with GALECA committed to helping champion strong, universal works of humor and heart, we’re proud to let everyone know about Her Story.”

Following the screening of Her Story, a Q&A moderated by AfterEllen journalist and GALECA Director of Women’s Outreach Trish Bendix will also feature co-writers and co-stars Jen Richards and Laura Zak, alongside co-star Angelica Ross and additional cast and crew from the series. Her Story will be available for download in early 2016.
