Reel in the goods this Saturday at the free Youth Fishing Derby at El Dorado Park.
Children and teenagers who are learning for the first time can practice casting a line in a roped-off area before trying their hand at luring in a fish or two, or three or four. This is a fantastic family friendly, community oriented event. Younger children can feed the ducks and watch their older peers hold up their wriggling catches, families can gather around the pond and delight in a freshly stocked lake and enthusiastic youth trying to get their hands on any aquatic creature available.
Fishing poles and tackle will be loaned to youth ages 15 years old or younger. Participants over 16 years old will be required to show a California State Fishing License. Saturday’s weather prediction includes a zero percent chance of rain with partial cloudiness.
On November 22 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, join Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine, the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and California Department of Fish and Wildlife for this splashy event. Registration will start at 8:00AM and close at 9:00AM. The Fishing Derby will begin at 9:00AM and last until 1:00PM when a special prize drawing will be held. El Dorado Park is located at 7550 E. Spring Street.
