Internship Applications for Multicultural Getty Summer Internships at the LBMA Now Available

10513311 10152199766726519 5987863539417563326 nThe Long Beach Museum of Art has announced the Getty Summer 2015 Curatorial and Education Internships. Applications for both are due by Wednesday, April 29.

According to the announcement, both internships are intended for members of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent who are currently enrolled undergraduate students and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2015. The intern will receive a stipend for the ten-week program.

GettyFoundation-300x62Aspects of the curatorial internship will include collection care, exhibition development, and registrar’s tasks, while specifically this summer, the intern will work on processing new acquisitions, including a gift of 45 contemporary artworks. If you’re interested in contemporary ceramics, organizing small exhibitions from the Museum’s permanent collection, and garnering a well-rounded experience with pieces of all mediums, then this internship is right up your alley.

The education intern will be involved with the ongoing work of the department, including visitor services. They will have the opportunity to assist with curriculum planning, museum programming, the After Dark event and several Family Artmaking Workshops.
