The Downtown Long Beach Associates announced Wednesday that the electro-punk outfit Fartbarf will bring their slightly disturbing stage presence, yet undeniably infectious dance beats to the next Summer and Music (SAM) event, Twisted at the Pike in downtown Long Beach. The event is slated to take place on Saturday, August 1 from 5:00PM to 11:00PM.

fartbarf2Fartbarf, “a mere handful of ape-like orderlies resisting a touchscreen future,” produce their dance-inducing beats and distorted voices through vintage analog synthesizers.

Now headlining due to popular demand for their return, the witty trio will take on this third event of the free live music series, set to transform The Pike into a delightfully demented land of the weird, full of curious carny folk, tribal fire belly dancers, stilt walkers, local grub, craft beer and more to satisfy your stranger tastes.

"Last year’s Twisted was spectacular,” said SAM organizer and co-founder Ashley Hectus in a press statement. “The amalgamation of extraordinary bands and artists… The uniquely talented performers, the carny vibe and The Pike as the setting provided a really exciting, extraordinary experience.”

She added that Twisted at the Pike celebrates the diversity, innovation and love for art that makes Long Beach an exceptional city, and the inclusion of Fartbarf in the lineup will bring “even more candy for your ears and eyes.”

Alongside the freakish, quirky, Neanderthal-mask-adorned group, Blank Tapes, Rudy de Anda, Tennis System, LITRONIX, Better Heroes, DJ BIX, Sirena Serpentina, Sea Funk Brass Band and Cirque Quirk will bring their musical talents to the carny-crowded stage.
