UPDATED: Shooting Near Del Amo and Cherry Leaves One Dead One Wounded

UPDATED 10:30AM | A man suspected of fatally shooting one person and wounding another on Monday night was in custody after he turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was not released.

The suspect was taken into custody around 10:45PM in the area of North Broadway and Eastlake Ave. said Sgt. Rick Colombia of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollenbeck Division.

ORIGINAL 12:10AM | One person was killed and another wounded tonight in a shooting near Del Amo Ave. and Cherry Ave.

The shooting occurred around 9:50PM in an apartment in the 4800 block of Clair Del Avenue, just south of Del Amo Boulevard, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another taken to a hospital, said Pratt. The wounded victim's condition was not immediately available.

Investigators were at an apartment at 4801 Clair Del Ave., according to a news photographer at the scene.
