Construction On Del Amo Boulevard to Cause Closures and Detours

Picture 2

Construction started Monday on a $1.3 million road improvement project for a stretch of Del Amo Boulevard that will repave sections of the street that runs from Carson to Long Beach west of the I-710. Closures and detours, however, will not hit Long Beach until closer to the July completion date.

The project, managed by the Los Angeles County Public Works Department, will repave five different portions of the road between Wilmington Ave. and the 710 and may affect those exiting and entering the freeway at Del Amo Blvd. Commuters will be forced to take detours or face traffic congestion as crews work through partial weeknight closures and-on designated weekends--full road closures of Del Amo Boulevard.

The project is scheduled to be carried out in four portions with the road opening immediately after work is completed on a given section and before another is shut down. Long Beach lies in the zone for Phase-IV of the project and will be the last to be affected.

Signs informing motorists of traffic delays and closures will be posted along Del Amo Blvd., Susana Road and other intersections along the work route prior to the start of construction. Commuters can sign up for email alerts at the LACPWD website.

Persons with questions regarding the road work should contact Public Works Construction Supervisor Al Dana at (626) 482-2732, Monday-Friday from 7AM to 3:30PM.
