Community groups ranging from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to city departments and private companies converged in Long Beach Friday to support the community, be it through charging stations or offering residents food and water as the city's blackout passed the 48-hour-mark.
Verizon Wireless set up a charging tent (pictured below) Friday afternoon, offering residents without power the opportunity to charge laptops and cell phones.
Southern California Edison, the American Red Cross and CERT worked together to distribute food, water, flashlights and more to residents without power.
The assistance came after a long, dark Friday night, in which the streets of Long Beach quietly waited for signs of power to return to the city.
