Authorities Investigating Fatal Motorhome Fire Near Downtown Long Beach

A person was found dead inside a motorhome that was engulfed in flames north of downtown Long Beach early Friday morning, authorities said.

The person, who was declared dead at the scene, was described only as an adult. It was unclear if the victim died before or after the fire.

Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel responded to the fire at 3:55AM on Friday, July 8 at the 900 block of Loma Vista Drive, adjacent to Drake Park, according to an LBFD release.

“Inside, firefighters located one adult victim who suffered fatal injuries,” the release stated.

Long Beach police were dispatched to assist fire personnel at 4:05AM, said Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

Arson investigators and homicide detectives are conducting an investigation on the cause of the fire.
