UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Accident Saturday Identified as Long Beach Man

UPDATE | The pedestrian killed in a traffic accident Saturday night in Belmont Heights has been identified as a Long Beach man, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities had previously stated 79-year-old John Solone of Long Beach was an Indio resident.

Officers responded to a call regarding an injury traffic collision at 4th Street and Obispo Avenue at about 10:26PM, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

A 2003 Honda Civic was traveling east on 4th Street when it hit the pedestrian. According to witness statements, the pedestrian was crossing the street on an unmarked crosswalk, officials stated.

The Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The 55-year-old driver remained at the intersection.
