Long Beach Police Nab Two Burglary Suspects Hiding in Trash Can, Backyard

Long Beach Police officers caught two residential burglary suspects at two different locations in Long Beach when they responded to a break-in on the 5800 block of Lewis Avenue Friday, authorities said.

The first male suspect was found inside a trash can in a church parking lot near 70th Street and Orange Avenue. He was found in possession of stolen jewelry, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

The second male suspect was located in the backyard of a home on the 6700 block of Lemon Avenue, she said.

Police responded to the burglary at 11:30AM and were able to locate the suspects by establishing a perimeter and using the assistance of a K-9 unit.

The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
