Man Left Critically Injured in Monday Night Shooting

Long Beach police are investigating a Monday night shooting as possibly gang-related after a man was left critically injured in the city’s West Side neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call near Caspian Avenue and West Summit Street at about 9:45PM on Monday, October 5, and subsequently found a man with a gunshot injury on the 1900 block of Caspian Avenue, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

The man was shot once in the lower torso, according to police Lt. Dave Faris.

Long Beach paramedics transported the victim in critical condition to a local hospital.

According to Faris, witnesses have given investigating officers conflicting accounts about the circumstances leading to the shooting.

The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
