A Long Beach man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly stealing an ambulance and leading police on a pursuit through city streets, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Carlos Rene Garciaaguillon, 25, was booked for evading, grand theft auto and vehicle theft, LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.
Police were dispatched to Long Beach Boulevard and Bixby Road on Wednesday, October 21 at about 11:00PM, regarding a report of a stolen unoccupied ambulance.
The vehicle—belonging to South Bay Ambulance—was being readied to pick up a dialysis patient when it was taken.
At about 11:20PM, officers located the vehicle and attempted to pull over the motorist who failed to stop. A pursuit then ensued.
The chase safely ended near Livingston Drive and Termino Avenue at about 11:35PM, according to officials.
Garciaaguillon is being held at Long Beach City Jail on $75,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
