UPDATE: County Coroner's Office Releases Name of Victim in Wednesday Night Shooting

UPDATE | The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has released the name of the victim fatally shot last Wednesday near downtown Long Beach.

Authorities said the victim was shot multiple times in his torso on Wednesday, March 30 at about 11:00PM on the 1600 block of Pine Avenue. 

He was identified as Joseph Moser, a 46-year-old homeless man, by coroner's office spokesperson Kelly Yagerlener.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The suspects remain outstanding. 

The incident was the first of two fatal shootings in Long Beach last week in just over a 24-hour period. A 17-year-old was fatally struck Thursday night

3/31/16 at 5:58PM | Police said the victim in Wednesday night’s fatal shooting was a Long Beach man in his 40s and the suspects who allegedly shot him were two black males who remain outstanding, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Officers responded to a shooting call on the 1600 block of Pine Avenue at 11:00PM on Wednesday, March 30 near downtown Long Beach, LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

They found the man at the intersection with gunshot wounds to his torso. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives determined the victim was approached by two black males who then shot him multiple times in the torso, the release stated. The suspects then fled eastbound on 16th Street and may have been involved in a physical altercation with another male subject near 16th Street and Locust Avenue.

The victim’s name will be released pending notification of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

A motive of the shooting is unknown. The suspects remain outstanding and the investigation remains ongoing.

PREVIOUSLY: Police Investigating Wednesday Night Fatal Shooting  in Long Beach

3/30/16 at 10:15AM | Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead just north of downtown Long Beach Wednesday night, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call on the 1600 block of Pine Avenue at 11:00PM on Wednesday, March 30, LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

They found a man on the intersection who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds, she added.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect remains outstanding and the investigation is ongoing, officials said.

No additional information was available at this time.
