UPDATE: Police Identify Man Fatally Stabbed in Long Beach

UPDATE | Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing in Long Beach early this morning.

Sergio Diaz Acosta, 25, of Long Beach was found by officers with multiple stab wounds to his upper body at 2:40AM today near the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pacific Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Acosta was then transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Authorities do not know the motive for the stabbing. The incident is being investigated as gang-related.

10/3/16 at 10:17AM | A man was found fatally stabbed in Long Beach early Monday morning, according to authorities.

Police responded to the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Pacific Avenue at 2:40AM on Monday, October 3, to assist Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel with “an individual lying in the street,” said Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

The man sustained a stabbing injury to his upper torso, she said. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. His name is being withheld pending family notification.

LBPD homicide detectives are investigating the incident, according to Arrona.
