Police are seeking a motorist suspected of striking a teen bicyclist in Long Beach’s Zaferia neighborhood Thursday morning before fleeing, authorities said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s with blond hair and blue eyes, driving a flat black, newer model sedan—possibly a Honda. The vehicle would have damage to the right front turn signal light area. It also had previous front passenger side door damage, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
The hit-and-run crash happened at about 7:40AM on Thursday, November 3, Pratt said. The motorist was traveling southbound on Obispo Avenue and attempting to make a right turn to head westbound on Anaheim Street when he struck the 15-year-old male bicyclist attempting to cross eastbound on Obispo Avenue, on the north side of Anaheim Street.
The driver initially stopped to check on the condition of the bicyclist before getting back into his car and leaving the scene, she said.
The victim was transported by Long Beach paramedics to a local hospital with minor injuries.
