Riverside Authorities Arrest Suspect in Murder of 21-Year-Old Long Beach Man Last Week

A Riverside man was arrested Saturday night for the murder of a 21-year-old Long Beach resident the day before, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD).

chu16-1112-carterDante Danil Carter, 35, was taken into custody without incident by investigators assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Department-Central Homicide Unit at 11:45PM on Saturday, November 12, according to a release. He was later booked into custody at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

Authorities said that on Friday, November 11 at 2:24AM, deputies with the RCSD Lake Elsinore Station responded to a “man down” call near Mojeska Summit and Squaw Mountain in the unincorporated area of Temescal Canyon. Upon arrival, they found Long Beach resident Eric Thomas Burniston, 21, dead at the scene with traumatic injuries.

Burniston was a Millikan High School alumnus, according to his Facebook page.

On Sunday, a GoFundMe account was created to support his family, according to the site.

“Eric Burniston was tragically taken from us by a monster of a human,” stated Travis De Sisto, who was listed as the creator of the page. “Eric was a beautiful human being who loved life everyday and strived to keep others happy, he is and always will be missed by his family and friends. Eric's passions were his family, his car, his girlfriend and his most recent acquisition his pit bull named Blue who was with him the night he passed.”
