Third Annual Black College Fair This Sunday in Long Beach

The third annual Long Beach HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) College Fair is set to take place this Sunday at the Long Beach Entertainment & Convention Center’s Seaside Room from 2:00PM to 6:00PM. Sponsored by Councilmember Al Austin and The Port of Long Beach, among other organizations, the convention is free and open to local high school and community college students.

“Come out and meet Black College recruiters, students and alumni at the Black College Fair,” reads the event flyer. “Everyone is invited.”

Over 50 HBCUs are expected to participate, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the institutions, their admissions processes, as well as attend SAT, personal statement, financial aid and scholarship workshops. High school seniors and community college students are also encouraged to bring their transcripts for “on-site acceptance,” according to the flyer.

“[...] I just want to say thank you to all the HBCUs who will be coming out to rep their schools as well as to the California HBCU Alliance who helped put together the Stepping in the Right Direction Black College Fair[...],” said Director Nicole Ford in her Facebook post announcing the attending universities. “I realize it is the same weekend as Thanksgiving, and want you to know how thankful I am you all are still taking your time out to support your HBCU, me and the students!!”

The Long Beach Entertainment & Convention Center is located at 300 East Ocean Boulevard.
