Crowded Candidate Field for Water Replenishment District Seat Climbs to Six

With the announcement from current Long Beach Water Commissioner John Allen that he’ll be campaigning for the Division 3 seat of the Water Replenishment District (WRD), the crowded field of candidates vying for the seat climbs to a total of six.

johnallenJoining Allen in the race is current Division 3 seat holder Lynn Dymally, who was appointed to the seat following the passing of Lillian Kawasaki last year; former 7th District Councilmember Tonia Reyes-Uranga; former 5th District Councilmember Gerrie Schipske; Lakewood resident and Tea Partier Larry Andre; and Lakewood resident Mason Innocente.

“In the midst of the worst drought on record, we need someone who knows water,” said Allen in a statement.. “We don’t need an out-of-office politician looking for a place to land or a rookie trying to learn on the job.”

Division 3 of the WRD covers seven cities: Long Beach, Lakewood, La Mirada, Artesia, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens and Signal Hill, of which 68% of the division sits within Long Beach city limits
