Long Beach Gives returns – September 22, 2022

Long Beach Gives, the annual citywide, online giving event to raise awareness and inspire individuals to give to local nonprofits is back for 2022. This year, the campaign aims to raise $2.2 million for over 222 nonprofit organizations representing 16 different causes in Long Beach. The campaign kicks off on September 15, 2022, with early giving and culminates with the annual day of giving on Thursday, September 22, 2022. People can use LongBeachGives.org, the campaign website, to find, learn about, and easily donate to nonprofit organizations supporting vital causes in Long Beach.

The support received from individual donors, peer fundraisers, and businesses allows the participating nonprofits to provide more services in Long Beach. Community support and funding assists nonprofits in providing shelter, food and clothing for individuals, families and seniors, and keeps our communities healthy and safe. Nonprofits help educate our young, offer arts and cultural opportunities, advocate for social justice and fight against climate change. Donor support helps nonprofits find homes for abandoned animals, provides support for military families and veterans, engage future leaders, and helps individuals with disabilities find and retain employment.

“Long Beach really came together the first three years of Long Beach Gives to support the incredible work being done by nonprofits in this city,” noted Matt Guardabascio with Long Beach Gives. “As a Long Beach native, I’m incredibly proud of the way our city showed up last year, raising more than $2 million in 2021. I’m excited to see what we do in 2022.”

Long Beach Gives was spearheaded by The Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation (JSGF) in 2019 with the goal of moving nonprofits into the growing world of online fundraising and connecting with a new generation of individual supporters in the community. Every year, participating nonprofits are provided free training and support from The Nonprofit Partnership (TNP), building capacity for more sustainable nonprofits in Long Beach. Nonprofits use the collaborative power of Long Beach Gives to be stronger together. Since 2019, over 20,272 supporters have invested $4.6 million in more than 260 nonprofit organizations.

Long Beach nonprofits strengthen the economy and make our community a more vibrant place to live, work, and play. With Long Beach Gives, it’s easy to support nonprofits and get involved.
