GLEE’s Jane Lynch to Headline Inaugural President’s Gala at the Carpenter Center in October • Long Beach Post

From Broadway, Best in Show and Glee, to Long Beach: Jane Lynch is headed to the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center as the headliner for their first-ever President’s Gala on October 3.

03JaneLynchAccording to a release issued Tuesday, Lynch will be performing American standards and show tunes in a show called See Jane Sing at the gala, a fundraising event that is the product of a collaboration between California State University, Long Beach and the Carpenter Center. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Carpenter Center’s Arts for Life program.

“The Carpenter Center is renowned as a cultural gateway for the entire Long Beach community and I can’t imagine a better venue for the first-ever President’s Gala,” said President Jane Close Conoley in a statement. “Our university is fortunate to have this amazing performing arts center on our campus. The arts are fundamental to providing a well-rounded educational experience at The Beach, and I’m especially pleased the Gala will support the vibrant Arts for Life program.”

Lynch made her Broadway debut in 2013, and will bring her talents to the stage of the Carpenter Center in the form of “fast-paced, funny songs” she’s chosen to be sung with a live jazz quintet led by Orange County’s 2014 jazz musician of the year Tony Guerrero. Guerrero will be featured on the trumpet.

Other guests at Lynch’s show include Kate Flannery from The Office, as well as Glee‘s vocal arranger Tim Davis. Songs featured will range from Fiddler on the Roof’s “Far from the Home I Love” to Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda.”

VIP ticket holders will be welcomed to an al fresco dinner on the Carpenter Family Terrace and have the chance to meet Lynch and Close Conoley following the performance.

Tickets for the event start at $75. Gala tickets are all-inclusive and available at the Carpenter Center ticket office for $250. For tickets and more information, visit or call the Carpenter Center Ticket Office at 562.985.7000. This series is made possible in part by Season Media Partner KPCC 89.3-FM.
