Police End Search for Armed Man in Long Beach’s Wrigley Neighborhood; Suspect remains at Large • Long Beach Post

Police have ended their search for an armed man who had threatened a family member with a gun late Tuesday evening, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

LBPD Spokesperson Nancy Pratt said officers were dispatched on Tuesday at 11:45PM to the 200 block of East 23rd Street regarding a person with a gun.

After arriving, officers learned that a man had threatened another family member with a gun.

The suspect then fled the residence into the neighborhood with the gun, jumping fences, according to Pratt.

The LBPD quickly established a search perimeter, Pratt said, before receiving a call from a neighboring home on the 200 block of East Eagle Street, detailing a man who broke into their home.

Subsequently, SWAT was activated, as police believed the intruder was the same suspect.

Faced with an armed intruder, the family locked themselves into a bedroom. The LBPD then assisted with the family’s exit through the bedroom window. No one was injured, Pratt said.

Police were unable to find the suspect after a search of the home and surrounding area, ending their systematic search around 5:00AM Wednesday.

The suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Pratt.
