A Proud Day at the Long Beach Post • Long Beach Post

Dear Readers,

It’s not often we stop to pat ourselves on the back, however, I think today calls for a moment of pause to congratulate the whole team that makes the Long Beach Post possible.

Three years after the Post went live, our late publisher and founder, my friend Shaun Lumachi, made a bold prediction—that the Long Beach Post would be the city’s most-read news source by January 1, 2015.

It may have taken us an extra year, but with all that’s happened in the past 6 years, both here at the Post and in journalism at large, we’re willing to give ourselves a pass if you are. It is my great pleasure to report that we found out today that in the past 30 days, the Long Beach Post has reached more unique readers online than any other news source in Long Beach.1

A great deal of gratitude is owed to countless individuals for making this possible: our Director of Operations, Dennis Dean, who had been relentless for the past 5 years in his dedication to the growth and vision of the Post; our amazing Executive Editor, Keeley Smith and the talented editors who came before her; our fantastic news team and contributors both present and past; our wonderful support staff; our founders and most of all you, our readers.

We are proud of our accomplishments and we look forward to the privilege of continuing to serve our readership and our Long Beach community in 2016. We will continue to invest in the things that have gotten us to where we are today; our commitment to nurturing both professional and community journalists, to continuing to innovate and invest in technology, and to always remaining nimble and unafraid of change.

As always, thanks for reading the Post.
