As the Long Beach Post continues to grow and cover more of the stories of the city we love—and free desk space becomes exceedingly scarce around Post World Headquarters—the sharp-eyed reader may have noticed a few new names popping up on the site in the past few weeks.
Please join us in welcoming Keeley, Stephanie, and Adrian to the Post team.
Keeley Smith joins the Long Beach Post as our new Executive Editor. Keeley graduated in 2010 with a degree in Journalism from the University of New Hampshire. From there, she quickly found work as a reporter—on the other side of the world.
While working as a reporter and associate editor at the Phnom Penh Post in Cambodia, she began volunteering as an advocate for the Cambodian Community of Women Living With HIV/AIDS. Her work there drove her interests toward policy and advocacy, eventually leading her to go back to school to earn her Master’s in Public Policy from Brown University.
Keeley is a former competitive gymnast and gymnastics coach and currently enjoys yoga and running.
Taking over the Crime and Public Safety desk is Stephanie Rivera, who comes to the Post from City News Service, a news wire agency that provides stories to most major news outlets in Southern California.
Prior to that, she worked as a bilingual editor and reporter for Patch Latino, covering immigration, local politics, business, school, crime and entertainment.
Stephanie likes all types of rock music and reading, especially biographies and Harry Potter.
In addition to managing the Post‘s massive social media and commenting communities, Adrian also coordinates our participation in real-life community events—he tells us there’s a whole world outside of the internet, but we’re reluctant to believe him.
His slight figure belies his love of food and the voracity of his appetite. When he’s not at work, you can usually find him Instagramming his meals and writing about them on Yelp.
Adrian manages our events calendar, so if you have an event coming up that you think other Post readers would like to know about, shoot him an email at [email protected].
As always, from all of us, thanks for reading, and thank you for supporting the Post.
