More than 1,500 runners and walkers braved the cold and wet weather to take part in the 17th annual Long Beach Turkey Trot for Charity.
More than 500 dogs and their owners were on hand for the 19th annual event in Marina Vista Park on Sunday.
Third Street at Pine Avenue was crowded with beer lovers who came out for the first annual event, which included dancing, music and lots of beer.
Although the original quote was actually about wine, a modified Benjamin Franklin saying has been passed around for many years: “Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
The debut exhibition is titled “Collecting Long Beach: Seven Decades from the Permanent Collection.”
The evening included vintage aircraft flyovers, skydivers, a sailing regatta, dancing and a bbq dinner, and was a benefit to several local charities including Children Today, the Miller Foundation and the Captain Rosa Memorial Scholarship.
Shoreline Park in Long Beach was invaded by pirates on Saturday for a planned two-day takeover.
