The Pike Outlets in downtown Long Beach will be welcoming The Gap Factory to its shopping district on Wednesday, during a grand opening celebration that will feature up to 70 percent discounts.
The store will open its doors to the public at 9:00AM on Wednesday, September 2 in the Pike, 95 South Pine Avenue.
According to store officials, shoppers should expect 40 to 70 percent discounts for the entire store throughout Labor Day weekend.
The opening follows last week’s opening of Converse, and will be followed by the opening of Nike on September 24, Pike officials said.
Two other stores are scheduled to be open in the future as well, including Perfumes 4 U and Sunglass Warehouse. However, opening dates for those stores have not yet been set.
The expansion of the shopping district and influx of big-name brands are part of what Mayor Robert Garcia has called “the new Pike.”
Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal credits the arrival of these new stores—which also include H&M and Forever 21—to Restoration Hardware, a home design store that took a risk and stepped in as the first major retail tenant, according to a press release by the Downtown Long Beach Associates.
“[These stores are] coming on the heels of a newfound success at the Pike Outlets given Restoration Hardware's performance," said Kraig Kojian, President and CEO of DLBA. "The success of these new stores will only be heightened as more brands move in. Even more, the young professionals working and living within DTLB now have an apparel choice without having to drive to LA, Cerritos or Orange County.”
The release also stated that the new stores are part of more than $65 million being invested into the Pike’s expansion.
With construction crews continuing their work, the shopping district is expected to complete the new space later this year.
