A few weeks ago, we were talking in the newsroom about major TV shows and movies filmed in Long Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past year, we’ve had the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” sequel<\/a>, a new Apple TV+ show starring Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a> and the Dexter prequel “Dexter: Original Sin.”<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To find out whether filming is increasing or decreasing, I submitted a public records request to the city for all film permits approved by the Office of Special Events and Filming over the past five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got back 35 pages listing everything from commercials, still photos, TV shows, feature films, student films, and music videos that were approved to shoot in Long Beach starting in August 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I start to comb through these permits (I requested all projects from Netflix and Apple Studios first), it’s helpful to know what I should be on the lookout for. That’s where you, the dedicated newsletter subscriber, come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
