It seems like Long Beach restaurants always step up in times of need. This week, it was legendary Filipino bake shop Gemmae<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got a call recently from Jessica Gillette, founder of Long Beach Filipinx Action Network<\/a>, who wanted to share some kudos for the family-owned West Long Beach business<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sponsor had fallen through at the last minute for LBFAN’s Filipino American History Month celebration, and Gemmae jumped right in to fill the gap, providing a free \u2014 and we all know it was delicious \u2014 buffet of Lumpia, Calamansi Fried Chicken, rice and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Gemmae Bake Shop didn\u2019t just help save an event \u2014 it helped lift an entire community,” Gillette said. It’s no surprise, from Gemmae, which has a storied history in Long Beach<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
