Posting subject to approval.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1>Virtually Pets<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/pets\/pet-projects-give-a-cat-a-dog-or-a-rabbit-the-gift-of-its-life-in-all-ways-possible\/\">I was wrong<\/a>\u2014<i>this <\/i>is the last column before Christmas. Christmas falls on a Monday this year, and the shelter\u2019s closed\u2014but it\u2019s open this weekend and you can give any of these guys a sleigh ride home!<\/p>\n<p>Here are four more candidates at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeach.gov\/acs\/pets\/adoptions\/\">Long Beach Animal Care Services<\/a>, located in the P. D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village, 7700 East Spring Street (at the entrance to El Dorado Park\u2014no parking fee for Village visitors). There are many more inside. If you\u2019re thinking of adding a pet to the family, please stop at the shelter first. Room is limited, and none of them should die before their time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-57176\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Cinnimom.JPG\" alt=\"Cinnimom\" width=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Young mother <strong>Cinnamom (<\/strong>ID#A598981) is 2 years old. She had five kittens when she was brought to the shelter, all of whom were adopted. But where does Mom go? She\u2019s certainly young enough to provide lots of good years of companionship, and she will surely be grateful. She\u2019s all dressed up for Christmas\u2014can you make sure that she has somewhere to celebrate forever?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-57177\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Sid.jpg\" alt=\"Sid\" width=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sid <\/strong>(ID#A597473) was surrendered by his owner. This hefty guy has been around cats, dogs and kids, so he\u2019ll have an easy time of making himself at home. He\u2019s also been declawed, so he wasn\u2019t a threat to the drapes. So, why give him up? Let\u2019s look at the future for Sid\u2014he\u2019s 8 years old and has plenty more to give. Adopting Sid will also entitle the new friend to $25 toward a meal at Thai Silk. Unlike its deadly counterpart, cats with FIV can have normal lifespans as long as they\u2019re monitored for illness\u2014their immune systems aren\u2019t as strong as cats without the disease. This little orange fellow is affectionate and sweet, and he\u2019d love to be someone\u2019s little Pumpkin!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-57179\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Chanel_.jpg\" alt=\"Chanel \" width=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You say she wants <strong>Chanel <\/strong>for Christmas? Bring her to the shelter to meet our Chanel\u2014in fact, bring him, too. Bring the entire family! Chanel is a 5-year-old spayed pit bull whose owners were moving, so they gave her up. Now, Chanel would like a forever home for Christmas. Don\u2019t leave her sitting on the shelf.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-54369\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Thai_Silk.jpg\" alt=\"Thai Silk\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Adopt a senior cat or dog (7 years old or older) at Long Beach Animal Care Services, bring the paperwork to Thai Silk, and eat good!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Again, remember\u2014pets are not presents. They\u2019re not commodities to be wrapped up in a package with holes poked in them or sprung as surprises on someone who may not appreciate them. Besides, a person and a pet should choose each other.<\/p>\n<p>Here again, though, is a wonderful way to give a pet the gift of a forever home in case someone you know has expressed a longing for one. First, of course, check with the recipient\u2019s entire household\u2014and landlord, if applicable\u2014to be certain that one will be welcome there.
