Described as \u201cthe heavy hitters of California\u2019s ever growing traditional ska and reggae scene,\u201d The Delirians<\/a> will perform during the last Concert in the Park(ing Lot) of the summer, marking the end to a great series of free music events put on by the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association<\/a> (BKBIA)\u00a0and First Fridays Long Beach<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince we have three Concerts in the Park(ing Lot) throughout the summer we like to have a completely different vibe for each month,\u201d said Tokotah Ashcraft, special events coordinator for the BKBIA. \u201cWe had surf rock cumbia with Salt Petal, pop indie rock with The Buttertones and now we have ska reggae with The Delirians! We try to keep the crowd on their toes and the music diverse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The East Los Angeles ska and reggae outfit formed in 2007 when then-teenagers Angel Salgado, Tony Medina and Joseph Qui\u00f1ones started a ska punk band. Over the years, their style has evolved from a \u201cslightly-mellower bilingual phase\u201d to what the group plays now, according to LA Weekly<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Guests won\u2019t go hungry during the free event, with Lola\u2019s Mexican Cuisine on site providing food and drink for purchase. Attendees are also welcome to bring lawn chairs and highly encouraged to bring their dancing shoes and community vibes.<\/p>\n
