{"id":1265,"date":"2017-08-11T19:47:58","date_gmt":"2017-08-11T19:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/arts-culture\/cambodia-town-mural-project-to-culminate-during-sunday-s-heart-of-long-beach-event\/"},"modified":"2017-08-11T19:47:58","modified_gmt":"2017-08-11T19:47:58","slug":"cambodia-town-mural-project-to-culminate-during-sunday-s-heart-of-long-beach-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/art\/cambodia-town-mural-project-to-culminate-during-sunday-s-heart-of-long-beach-event","title":{"rendered":"Cambodia Town Mural Project to Culminate During Sunday\u2019s HEART of Long Beach Event"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-33304\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSC_0139.JPG\" alt=\"DSC 0139\" width=\"620\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo by Asia Morris.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In advance of the HEART of Long Beach festival and mural tour this Sunday, a press conference previewing the eight murals painted during the Cambodia Town Mural Project was held at Long Beach Transit Headquarters this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Performances reflecting the city\u2019s diversity as well as Cambodia Town were given by opera singer Marco Schindelmann, 17-year-old rapper 2Tai and Sabrina Sun, who performed a traditional Cambodian dance in front of an audience of camera crews, members of the Arts Council for Long Beach, Midtown Business Improvement District (MBID), the artists who painted the murals and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we are celebrating all that is good about our Long Beach neighborhood that is known as Cambodia Town,\u201d CEO of Long Beach Transit and MBID Chair Kenneth McDonald said during the event. \u201cThis is a community rich in artistic tradition.
