Long Beach Junior Roller Derby is coming back to Bayshore this year and its first meet and greet of 2020 is in Downtown Long Beach; over ice cream.<\/p>\n

Head to Long Beach Creamery, Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and you can chat with organizers, including roller skating dynamo Mimi Masher about joining the squad, helping the squad and other ways to participate in creating a fun, safe and healthy environment for kids ages 4 to 18, of all abilities, interested in the sport.<\/p>\n

Junior Roller Derby’s mission is to help girls and boys “become their best while training them to compete in amateur roller derby competitions.” That includes fostering excellent communication skills, teamwork and sportsmanship\u2014just make sure to wear a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, bubble wrap, pillows, etc.<\/p>\n

And, there may be no better time to get your young one hyped on roller skating. With “Birds of Prey” out in theaters, featuring Margot Robbie as an emancipated Harley Quinn riding none other than Mimi Masher’s banked track<\/a>, Junior Roller Derby certainly has their timing down when it comes to building on that excitement.<\/p>\n
