Above: the Surf&#8217;n&#8217;Turf Burrito.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sancho&#8217;s Tacos are well known in Orange County with two locations, one in Huntington Beach and the other in Newport\u2014and when they decided to open a third location in Long Beach, they knew they would have to come in with a bang.<\/p>\n<p>And they did, inviting Sublime\u00a0surviving member Bud Gaugh and guests to celebrate two things synonymous with Long Beach: beers and taco. The pairing of Sublime and Sancho&#8217;s make sense since, just last month, \u00a0Gaugh (along with Troy\u00a0denDekker, now-passed lead singer Bradley Nowell\u2019s widow, DJ Product 1969c from\u00a0<i>Robbin\u2019 The Hood<\/i>, and artist who created the album cover of Sublime&#8217;s iconic\u00a0<em>40 oz. to Freedom<\/em>\u00a0Opie Ortiz) were celebrating\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeachize.com\/the-most-long-beach-beer-ever-possibly-beer-honors-sublimes-debut-album\">the release of the only Sublime-sanctioned beer<\/a> at AleSmith brewery in San Diego.<\/p>\n<p>But now is the time for Long Beach to test out the taco joint for themselves as Sancho&#8217;s is in full operation now in Belmont Shore.<\/p>\n<p>It is the first of three OC-based taco joints coming to Long Beach to open its doors; awaiting openings are<a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeachize.com\/long-beach-foodie-update-lb-taco-company-to-serve-mexican-craft-beer-more-in-dtlb\"> the Long Beach Taco Company<\/a>\u00a0in DTLB, owned by Placentia-based restaurateur\u00a0Armando Velazquez, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeachize.com\/long-beach-foodie-update-seabirds-is-coming-to-4th-street-pho-is-coming-to-dtlb\">vegan-friendly Seabirds<\/a>\u00a0near Retro Row, whose avocado tacos put it on the map when they opened in Costa Mesa. (And note: Seabirds isn&#8217;t just a taco joint; they serve a variety of vegan dishes.)<\/p>\n<p>Sancho&#8217;s is known for its play on authority culture when it comes to the naming of its food\u2014you&#8217;ll find their chicken taco named &#8220;Yard Bird&#8221; and their carnitas dubbed &#8220;Federale&#8221;\u2014while offering more upscale takes on the almighty taco and offering their secretive Chubbie\/5150 sauce as a side only.
