This year\u2019s judges included Aliye Aydin of AGoodCarrot.com, Quinn Jacobs, a Long Beach resident and Pastry Chef at Napa Valley Grille, Lori Shaw of Lady Farmer LA and Luis Tobon of North LB Crop Swappers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBixby Knolls First Fridays brings together thousands of residents, so it\u2019s a ripe opportunity to showcase Long Beach\u2019s growing food movement and invite the community to join in,\u201d Ryan Smolar, co-director of Long Beach Fresh, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s winners for the best produce grown in Long Beach are:<\/p>\n<p>Root Vegetables:<br \/>1st \u2013 The Growing Experience \u2013 Striped Beets<br \/>2nd \u2013 Sherwood Souzankari \u2013 Giant Kohlrabi<br \/>3rd \u2013 Marcella Santia \u2013 Beets<\/p>\n<p>Fruits:<br \/>1st \u2013 Ofelia Rivera \u2013 Bananas<br \/>2nd \u2013 Jose Gonzales \u2013 Kumquats<br \/>3rd \u2013 Emily Quest Rhoads \u2013 Strawberries<\/p>\n<p>Leafy Greens:<br \/>1st \u2013 Kathleen Blakistone of Moonwater Farm \u2013 Purple Mustard Greens<br \/>2nd \u2013 Jim Coke \u2013 Tree Collards<br \/>3rd \u2013 The Growing Experience \u2013 Rainbow Swiss Chard<\/p>\n<p>Herbs and Flowers:<br \/>1st \u2013 The Growing Experience \u2013 Yucca Flower<br \/>2nd \u2013 Sasha Kanno \u2013 Herb Mix &amp;
