The Downtown Long Beach Alliance\u2019s annual food festival series, Taste of Downtown, is facing the COVID pandemic head-on by creating a virtual version of the event which typically includes closed-off streets and seemingly endless tents hosting restaurants serving up sample-sized versions of dishes they offer.<\/p>\n

The online activities, hosted live on the Alliance’s Facebook page, will take place on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 and will feature livestreams on everything <\/span>from “Quarantini” cocktail demonstrations to culinary and fitness classes.<\/p>\n

The two-day festival will culminate in a headline musical performance timed to follow the nightly 8 p.m. show of support for frontline workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we may be apart physically, we still can still connect and support one another virtually,\u201d said Placemaking Manager Mariah Hoffman. \u201cOur upcoming Virtual Taste of Downtown will promote businesses and provide them with much-needed exposure on a broad platform while giving the greater Long Beach community a fun opportunity to come together online and enjoy some food, drinks, and live entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n
