{"id":1594,"date":"2017-01-28T00:39:37","date_gmt":"2017-01-28T00:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/food\/eat-your-way-through-long-beach-without-breaking-the-bank-during-dine-out-restaurant-week\/"},"modified":"2017-01-28T00:39:37","modified_gmt":"2017-01-28T00:39:37","slug":"eat-your-way-through-long-beach-without-breaking-the-bank-during-dine-out-restaurant-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/food\/eat-your-way-through-long-beach-without-breaking-the-bank-during-dine-out-restaurant-week","title":{"rendered":"Eat Your Way Through Long Beach Without Breaking the Bank During Dine Out Restaurant Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-52637\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"image002\" width=\"620\" height=\"357\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Image courtesy of Dine Out Long Beach.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Branded as \u201cthe ultimate moveable feast,\u201d Dine Out Long Beach announced today that Restaurant Week 2.0 will take place February 19 through the 25th, with the week\u2019s kick-off to be a free Chef\u2019s Cooking + Tasting event on Saturday, February 18 from 11:00AM to 4:00PM at Friedman\u2019s Appliances.<\/p>\n<p>Restaurant Week 2.0 will feature alligator from Louisiana Charlie\u2019s, beef from Chianina steakhouse, the only restaurant in the nation that breeds, raises and serves the Italian cattle, and libations from Great Society Cider &amp; Mead, the only SoCal restaurant specializing in the two beverages, among many more delicious offerings.<\/p>\n<p>Pike Bar &amp; Restaurant, owned by Chris Reece, drummer for Social Distortion, will also be dishing out a few specials. It\u2019s a great way to sample a little bit of everything that Long Beach\u2019s community of eateries has to offer, whether you\u2019re adventurous enough to try the alligator or not.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-25375\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/jamesrepublic1.jpg\" alt=\"jamesrepublic1\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Image courtesy of James Republic.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to be part of Dine Out Long Beach,\u201d said Ali Kobessi, owner of Open Sesame in Belmont Shore, in a statement. \u201cRestaurant Week 2.0 is a great opportunity for us to showcase our lunch and dinner offerings to new and returning guests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Restaurants will offer two-option menus for breakfast\/brunch and\/or lunch starting at $10 and three-option menus for dinner starting at $20. Some eateries will also offer a shared menu, allowing two guests to split an appetizer and dessert, but enjoy their own entr\u00e9e. Other restaurants will do small plates and wine or beer pairings, according to the announcement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLong Beach\u2019s dining scene has really exploded in recent years,\u201d said Elizabeth Borsting, founder of Dine Out Long Beach and a local public relations consultant, in a statement. \u201cWe have quite a few new restaurants participating, including Beer Belly, Roe\u2019s Seafood, and Great Society Cider &amp; Mead as well as some dining landmarks, such as L\u2019Opera, Michael\u2019s On Naples, Papalucci\u2019s and The Crooked Duck.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>To participate, no passes or tickets are required. Guests can peruse the special, prix-fixe menus via the Dine Out Long Beach website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dineoutlongbeach.com\">here<\/a>, decide where they\u2019d like to dine by selecting a neighborhood, price point or cuisine, then make a reservation at select restaurants on the Dine Out Long Beach website via OpenTable.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-16579\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/pizza.jpg\" alt=\"pizza\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Photo by Stephanie Rivera.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The kick-off Chef\u2019s Cooking + Tasting event will take place at Friedman\u2019s Appliance Center on Saturday, February 18 and is free to the public. Four chefs and a mixologist will participate in cooking and cocktail demos. There will also be a complimentary beer and wine tasting courtesy of Stella Artois and Taste WBK.<\/p>\n<p>See Jane Go, Dine Out Long Beach\u2019s transportation sponsor, will be there promoting Girls Dine Out night. The first two nights of Restaurant Week will also feature Pass the Plate nights, where participating restaurants are paired with a nonprofit to raise money for an organization.
