Broadway. Wild Chive will open June 5.<\/p>\n<p>Nguyen, who had been doing brunch pop-ups at Portfolio Coffeehouse and MADE by Millworks, has been saving up since landing in Long Beach and takes over what was an antique renovation space.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000020189\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000020189\" style=\"width: 1110px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20080759\/IMG_7775.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-10000020189\" src=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20080759\/IMG_7775-1110x731.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"731\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000020189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chef Soozee Nguyen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s crazy to think that it&#8217;s been four years since I had moved back from working my way through the kitchens of New York City,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The popups and residencies have been nice but the big dream and goal has always been to lay down some roots with our very own brick and mortar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Four years running but 10 years in the making, Nguyen can finally offer her famed Vegan Brunch on a regular basis within her own space and join <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/food\/guide-long-beach-vegan-food\">the growing vegan scene<\/a> that has taken hold throughout the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I became vegetarian at 19, I still yearned for the good stuff,\u201d Nguyen said. \u201cNot so much the actual food, but more what that food meant\u2014a certain flavor, a texture and that kick I\u2019d grown accustomed to after growing up in Texas eating meals prepared by my mother, a traditional Vietnamese cook, and my father, an experimental kind of guy with a taste for fusions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000020127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000020127\" style=\"width: 1110px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/19143034\/unnamed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-10000020127\" src=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/19143034\/unnamed-1110x830.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"830\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000020127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The interior of the new Wild Chive space. Photo by Soozee Nguyen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nguyen\u2019s keen sensibility for high-quality vegan food kept vegans and non-vegans alike returning for signature dishes such as stuffed french toast filled with house-made chocolate-hazelnut spread, fresh strawberries, bananas, coconut whip and topped with maple and almonds. Or a breakfast b\u00e1nh m\u00ec filled with tofu, tempeh bacon and ham, pickled veggies, cucumber, cilantro, chile, fried shallots, and a chive-cilantro aioli.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights for this space? Vegan Vietnamese Coffee with housemade condensed milk, French Quarter beignets, a vegan Monte Cristo sandwich and vegan mac\u2019n\u2019cheese\u2014and it will be available for takeout and delivery come June 5. That&#8217;s going to be followed by an expansion into their candle-lit dinner service, open-air dining with their outdoor patio, and a craft beer and wine bar that is currently in the works.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wild Chive is located at 2650 E.
