Furcast performing with Sydney Wolford\u2019s dance team at Night Dive in August.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The 21st Night Dive at the Aquarium of the Pacific will mark the first-ever New Year\u2019s Eve celebration at the ocean conservation-focused nonprofit.<\/p>\n<p>It was in 2010 that the aquarium began hosting Night Dive events, intending to reach out to a cohort of people that wouldn\u2019t normally visit the educational oceanic attraction, said Night Dive Coordinator Omar Campuzano.<\/p>\n<p>There have been five Night Dives this year that have arguably been a handful of the aquarium&#8217;s best so far, as the institution continues to reach out and solidify connections to Long Beach\u2019s community of artists, musicians and promoters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the things that we focus on when organizing Night Dive, is that every event should be different and memorable,\u201d Campuzano told the <em>Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-52280\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/nightdivenye.jpg\" alt=\"nightdivenye\" width=\"620\" height=\"233\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, with The Prognosis on board, the brainchild of Long Beach creatives and housemates Ronnie De Leon and Mike Becerra, De Leon said he\u2019s focusing on pushing Night Dive past its initial draw\u2014drinking and being able to wander the aquarium at night, post-normal visiting hours\u2014into more of an ongoing music festival in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[&#8230;]I bumped into a guy who was describing his time at the Night Dive in August while watching local band Furcast,\u201d said De Leon. \u201c[He] was thrilled by the ballet team, and the rapper and singer collaborations of the band. He said that it wasn\u2019t just a show, it was an experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a sense, we like to think of [The Prognosis] as an escape channel for people,\u201d he said. \u201cOur objective is to be an organic, ever-changing web of art and culture that represents Long Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Prognosis was brought on to help curate the live music at Night Dive through a chance encounter at 4th St. Vine when De Leon ran into Daysmel Muniz, an education staff member at the aquarium. Muniz recognized De Leon as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/music\/the-prognosis-to-showcase-lbc-bred-music-collabs-on-new-terrain\/\">the guy who threw a music festival at The Airliner<\/a>,\u201d and asked if he was interested in helping him out with the booking.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; float: left;\">\n<div style=\"width: 100px; height: 100px; background-image: url('images\/keeley\/ThePrognosis\/IO.jpg'); background-size: cover; background-position: center center; float: left; margin-right: 30px; display:none;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p> <small style=\"font-weight: lighter;\">RELATED<\/small> <\/p>\n<h2 ><a onclick=\"ga('send', 'event', 'Related Link', 'click', 'Realted Link v1');\" href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/music\/the-prognosis-to-showcase-lbc-bred-music-collabs-on-new-terrain\/\">The Prognosis to Showcase Long Beach-bred Music, Collabs on New Terrain<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<p>\u201c[&#8230;] Before I knew it, I was booking my favorite bands at one of Long Beach\u2019s greatest attractions,\u201d said De Leon.<\/p>\n<p>For the past few Night Dive events, and the upcoming December New Year\u2019s Eve event, De Leon and team have been given full music booking responsibilities, after volunteering in June and July when Muniz was showing him the ropes.<\/p>\n<p>The New Year\u2019s Eve lineup includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/buttertones\/\">The Buttertones<\/a>, who were recently signed to Los Angeles-based Innovative Leisure, an independent record label in which Long Beach\u2019s own Tijuana Panthers also holds a place. The trio opened for the 5,6,7,8s back in August and will be taking the stage at Night Dive. The dance-inducing Yanga, the melancholic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NicoYaryan\/\">Nico Yaryan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WhoisWildWing\/\">Wild Wing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Cholaorange\/\">Chola Orange<\/a> are all set to play in the aquarium\u2019s Great Hall starting at 8:00PM and continuing into 2017.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also Miraj 8, whose members are set to perform, as well as nine other artists, including Mu$ty BoYz, throughout the aquarium\u2019s varying galleries. The group includes the singer\/songwriter from local experimental R&amp;B-jazz outfit <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/music\/this-is-the-year-of-furcast-your-favorite-bands-favorite-band\/\">Furcast<\/a>, Johann Carbajal, a 13-year-old Pow! Wow!
