{"id":16422,"date":"2020-06-02T15:12:16","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T22:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000011271"},"modified":"2020-06-02T20:04:42","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T03:04:42","slug":"in-pictures-a-quiet-downtown-rebuilds-with-clean-ups-and-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/in-pictures-a-quiet-downtown-rebuilds-with-clean-ups-and-art","title":{"rendered":"IN PICTURES\/VIDEO: A quiet Downtown rebuilds with cleanups and art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Local artists &quot;make Long Beach beautiful&quot; after protests leave damage downtown\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S6nttX8x_Nc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Organized cleanups in Downtown and North Long Beach began <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/after-night-of-chaos-long-beach-begins-to-clean-up\">Monday morning<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lbbusinessjournal.com\/it-really-starts-to-hurt-small-businesses-reckon-with-aftermath-of-lockdown-looting\/\">businesses hurting<\/a> from the aftermath of Sunday&#8217;s largely peaceful protest that was followed by several groups breaking off to loot and vandalize shops and structures, Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout Monday, Downtown was busy with volunteer cleanup crews, brooms and dustpans in hand, in what seemed a constant search for things to pick up or clean. In fact, despite most crews acting completely on their own, they were so efficient in their efforts that by early afternoon, most were looking for things to do.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, others found their way of helping\/cleaning up. Artist Whosvlad said painting murals on boarded-up businesses was his way of rebuilding.
