Downtown Long Beach\u2019s Pine Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets will be transformed on November 5 into the Mexican cultural celebration of D\u00eda De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).<\/p>\n

The event, hosted by First District Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez,will be filled with live music and artwork from 5:00PM to 10:00PM.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s event is going to be our biggest one yet,\u201d said Gonzalez in a statement. \u201cWe have an outstanding line up of musical performers, local artists and community organizations participating in this year\u2019s celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2016 music headliners are slated to be Sweet and Tender Hooligans, who are best portrayed as the \u201cUltimate Smiths & Morrissey Tribute Band,\u201d as well as Rudy De Anda, who recently performed at the Music Taste Good festival.<\/p>\n

Thousands of people attend the celebration to compete in the altar competition and to get their faces painted in traditional Dia De Los Muertos designs such as skulls, while jamming out to live music and enjoying food from local vendors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
