{"id":1748,"date":"2016-09-23T00:05:54","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T00:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/food\/music-tastes-good-s-epic-farm-to-table-dinner-menu-announced-get-ready-to-drool\/"},"modified":"2016-09-23T00:05:54","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T00:05:54","slug":"music-tastes-good-s-epic-farm-to-table-dinner-menu-announced-get-ready-to-drool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/food\/music-tastes-good-s-epic-farm-to-table-dinner-menu-announced-get-ready-to-drool","title":{"rendered":"Prepare to Drool: Music Tastes Good&#8217;s &#8216;Epic&#8217; Farm-to-Table Dinner Menu Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-50732\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/MTG.png\" alt=\"MTG\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/>The much-anticipated menu for just one of the components of the Music Tastes Good Festival has been released, offering some sweet and savory dishes to test and ultimately satisfy your palate during the festival\u2019s unique dining experience on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Officially called the \u201cFarm-to-Taste Experience,\u201d Saturday\u2019s farm-to-table dinner will be held on the second night of the three-day festival in downtown Long Beach, specifically at the Latin-inspired gastro-pub Padre\u2019s Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>The meals will feature locally-sourced food prepared by six top Long Beach chefs who will team up with guest chefs of their choice, according to longtime Long Beach resident and event organizer Josh Fischel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lola\u2019s Luis Navarro said he wanted to bring a powerhouse from Mexico City, so he reached out to his friend and private chef Diego Isunza Kahlo, who is also the great-grandnephew of legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe come with a very long working history together,\u201d Navarro said of Kahlo. \u201cI\u2019m very fortunate to call him my friend and when this opportunity came across I couldn\u2019t think of anyone better than him to showcase [the food].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Navarro, taking part in the dining experience was a no-brainer. He saw it a way to highlight Long Beach as not only Los Angeles\u2019 sister or sister-in-law, but also solidify Long Beach as a food destination.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50733\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Luis-Navarro-photo-420x420.jpg\" alt=\"Luis-Navarro-photo-420x420\" width=\"620\" \/><br \/>\u201cI just felt that with our experience, Long Beach always gets overlooked, so whenever it comes to media, food coverage, even the restaurants through our retail boutique, we always get overlooked,\u201d Navarro noted.<\/p>\n<p>It seems as if Long Beach is a bit too far north from Orange County and just a little too far south for Los Angeles County, Navarro remarked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to flex our muscle and really trying to flex and showcase this is Long Beach,\u201d Navarro said. \u201cWe are Long Beach, these are our ties, these are our friends who we cook with on our down time and it stretches further than LA, further than San Francisco.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; float: left;\">\n<div style=\"width: 100px; height: 100px; background-image: url('images\/esther\/musictastesgood\/IMG_20160507_221953.jpg'); background-size: cover; background-position: center center; float: left; margin-right: 30px; display:none;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p> <small style=\"font-weight: lighter;\">RELATED<\/small> <\/p>\n<h2 ><a onclick=\"ga('send', 'event', 'Related Link', 'click', 'Realted Link v1');\" href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/arts-culture\/long-beach-s-music-tastes-good-announces-final-lineup-and-exclusive-food-experience\/\">Long Beach\u2019s Music Tastes Good Announces Full Lineup and Exclusive Food Experience<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<p>According to organizers, guests of the \u201ccasual outdoor urban dinner experience\u201d will not only get to experience six amazing courses, but they will do so with chef interaction, beverage pairings with Greenbar Distillery using its small batch, organic liquors and liqueurs, and special guest DJ sets from DJ Maseo of De La Soul and Andres Renteria, who is the drummer for Jose Gonzalez.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the menu and the chefs that will prepare the tasty concoctions below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Eddie Ruiz<\/strong> of Public Beer and Wine and <strong>Michael Puglisi<\/strong> of Electric City Butcher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lambchetta taco with hongo enchilado, chayote, sweet lady peppers, and queso anejo<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Luis Navarro<\/strong> of Lola\u2019s Mexican Cuisine, Mexican chef <strong>Diego Isunza Kahlo<\/strong> and <strong>Emiliano Ayala Barreda<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seared veal tongue with roasted quajillo chile bone marrow salsa<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Arthur Gonzalez<\/strong> of Panxa Cocina and <strong>Rahm Fama<\/strong>, former host of the Food Network&#8217;s \u201cMeat and Potatoes\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Spot prawns with greens and spatzle, finished with urchin aji cream<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>David MacLennan<\/strong> of James Republic and <strong>Makoto Okuwa<\/strong> of Makoto<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tomato tartare with capers, chives, spicy aioli, and quail egg yolk<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Philip Pretty<\/strong> and <strong>Yesenia Martinez<\/strong>, both of Restauration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fig upside-down cake with spiced vanilla anglaise + housemade chamomile ice cream<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Paul Buchanan<\/strong> of Primal Alchemy Catering and <strong>David Coleman<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Castillanut Pumpkin Fritters with Chili Dipping Sauce. Farm Lot 59 Salad, Beet Pasta Lasagnette w\u2019 Kale, Onion, Mozzarella &amp; Sun Choke B\u00e9chamel<\/p>\n<p>While food is not typically highlighted at music festivals, Fischel said his passion for both music and food is what inspired him to combine and showcase both components at the festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up cutting the celery at three years old,\u201d said Fischel, who noted that both his mother and brother are chefs. \u201cWe are all very, very serious about food. We travel a lot, we eat food, and we love music. It just kind of made sense to put this all together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fischel also noted the growth of Long Beach cuisine in the past decade as a drive to highlight the great food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the big ideas behind this is to bring people into Long Beach and show Long Beach off,&#8221; Fischel said.<\/p>\n<p>The dinner will be served four times between 5:00PM and 10:00PM. Time slots are available every hour at 5:00PM, 6:00PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, or 9:00PM. Reservations are encouraged but guests can come to Padre\u2019s, located at 525 East Broadway, any time after 4:30PM to check for availability.<\/p>\n<p>Only VIP ticket holders will be able to enjoy the dinner. Three-day VIP tickets cost $240 and Saturday-only VIP tickets cost $175.
