The five installations selected after the second and final phase of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/arts-culture\/mtg-call-for-artists\/\">application process<\/a> have been announced and feature a wide array of creative ideas set to come to life during the music and food festival.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; float: left;\">\n<div style=\"width: 100px; height: 100px; background-image: url('images\/asia\/mtg-cfa.png'); background-size: cover; background-position: center center; float: left; margin-right: 30px; display:none;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<p> <small style=\"font-weight: lighter;\">RELATED<\/small> <\/p>\n<h2 ><a onclick=\"ga('send', 'event', 'Related Link', 'click', 'Realted Link v1');\" href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/arts-culture\/mtg-call-for-artists\/\">Music Tastes Good Officially Releases Call for Artists to Create Art Installations for Inaugural Festival <\/a><\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width:100%; float:left;\" \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50219\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/benedict_parasolvent.jpg\" alt=\"benedict parasolvent\" width=\"640\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Orange County-based artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/derbykinetic\/?pnref=story\"><strong>Dan Benedict<\/strong><\/a> was selected to bring his interactive kinetic installation <em>Parasolvent<\/em> to MTG, where viewers will be able to turn a crank to rotate a large wheel of opening and closing parasols. <em>Parasolvent<\/em>, just one of the artist\u2019s \u201cnerdcentric\u201d endeavors, will be tested on burners at this year\u2019s Burning Man before landing in Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50220\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Bingley_Proposal2.jpg\" alt=\"Bingley Proposal2\" width=\"640\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The installation titled <em>Band Boxes<\/em> will be placed in the middle of an intersection and may provide shade and a meeting place for MTG attendees. Los Angeles-based artist <strong>Katherine Bingley<\/strong> plans to transform the boxes with her colorful characters, featuring the lyrics from bands playing at the festival.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50221\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/cooper_blocks_with_light.jpg\" alt=\"cooper blocks with light\" width=\"620\" height=\"620\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Long Beach artist and crafter extraordinaire<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KelsoDoesntDance\/\"><strong> Kelsey Cooper<\/strong><\/a> submitted <em>Tetris Blocks<\/em>, a giant installation where multiple people can stack the different colored blocks at the same time, emulating the 1980s video game. Set upon an astro turf area, the installations would stand out day or night, with lights placed inside each of the boxes to shine through and attract participants.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50222\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Kaufman_Front_with_Bells.jpg\" alt=\"Kaufman Front with Bells\" width=\"640\" height=\"366\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Kaufman<\/strong>, an installation designer at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theindustrycollective\/\">The Industry<\/a> and former actress at the Queen Mary\u2019s famous Dark Harbor event knows more than a thing or two about what a good festival experience entails. Her installation, <em>Rumination Attuning<\/em>, is a wooden temple space where ruminations, or written personal thoughts, are located above hanging bells of different pitches. Attendees can contribute their own ruminations or ring the bell that resonates with them the most.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-50223\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/mtg-building-blocks_lorna-alkana_revised-21.jpg\" alt=\"mtg-building-blocks lorna-alkana revised-21\" width=\"640\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Local artist <a href=\"%20https:\/www.facebook.com\/lornaalkanaart\/?pnref=story\"><strong>Lorna Alkana\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> <em>Found Windows<\/em> will feature a panel covered with chalk paint that attendees can use to answer the question, \u201cHow does music taste good?\u201d Moving wire and fiber sculptures, sound reactive projection art and illuminated painted windows inspired by album covers featuring MTG musicians will bring the four structures to life.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about Music Tastes Good, visit the website <a href=\"http:\/\/mtglb.co\/\">here<\/a>.
