{"id":20073,"date":"2020-09-28T13:00:25","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T20:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000015245"},"modified":"2020-09-28T13:00:41","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T20:00:41","slug":"free-drive-thru-art-experience-celebrates-latinx-artists-hispanic-heritage-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/free-drive-thru-art-experience-celebrates-latinx-artists-hispanic-heritage-month","title":{"rendered":"Free drive-thru art experience celebrates Latinx artists,\u00a0Hispanic Heritage Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, a free, drive-thru art experience at the Hollywood Palladium Theater will feature works by emerging and established Latinx artists, exploring the Latinx influence on Los Angeles, a collaboration between Hyundai, Long Beach&#8217;s Museum of Latin American Art and Los Angeles-based organization Art of Elysium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;DRIVEN,&#8221; will take place Oct. 1-4, and involve a 25-minute immersive, interactive drive-thru exhibit, experienced from the comfort of a car. Courtesy MOLAA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With artworks pulled from MOLAA&#8217;s permanent collection in dialogue with other emerging artists, pieces include &#8220;Californian Family in Six Colors #1,&#8221; 2019 by Leo Chiachio and Daniel Giannone, the Buenos Aires-based duo known for their vibrant textile mosaics and embroidery, contemplating what it&#8217;s like to be LGBTQ in Latin America and the evolving structure of the family.<\/p>\n<p>MOLAA presented &#8220;Chiachio &amp; Giannone: Celebrating Diversity&#8221; to museum visitors in 2019, a participatory installation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000029268\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000029268\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10000029268\" src=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/28122147\/M.2016.004-Hernandez.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"892\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000029268\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Les demoiselles d&#8217;barrio, 2013&#8221; by Judithe Hern\u00e1ndez; pastel and mixed-media on canvas. Courtesy MOLAA.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There&#8217;s also &#8220;Les demoiselles d&#8217;barrio,&#8221; 2013 by Judithe Hern\u00e1ndez, who in 2018 became the first American-born Latina to have a solo exhibition at MOLAA. Hern\u00e1ndez first received acclaim in the &#8217;70s during the Los Angeles mural renaissance as a member of the Chicano artist collective <i>Los Four<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>More artists featured that &#8220;invite us to explore artists&#8217; commitment to social and highly relevant cultural issues,&#8221; Urtiaga said, include Carlos Almaraz, Steffano \u00c1lvarez, Judithe Hern\u00e1ndez, Patssi Valdez, Denise L\u00f3pez, Diana G\u00f3mez, Norberto Rodr\u00edguez and Delmer Mej\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;DRIVEN&#8221; takes place Oct. 1 &#8211; 4, 12 to 8 p.m. at the Hollywood Palladium at 6215 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.
