Here are some drink specials in Long Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With an abundance of great Mexican restaurants in Long Beach, National Margarita Day is the unofficial holiday to which we can all raise a glass.<\/p>\n<p>The tequila-laced cocktail is one of the most popular in the U.S., but its origins are somewhat of a mystery.\u00a0As one story goes, the drink was invented by\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Mexican restaurant owner Carlos Herrera in 1938 who mixed a cocktail for Ziegfeld showgirl Marjorie King, who was supposedly allergic to all hard\u00a0<\/span>alcohol except tequila.\u00a0Another legend claims Texas socialite Margaret Sames concocted the drink during a party at her Acapulco vacation home in 1948.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of where it came from, it&#8217;s a drink that deserves to the honored. And drank.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">In observance of National Margarita Day on Feb. 22, here are some local spots offering deals.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999939303\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999939303\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999939303\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG-6770-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-999939303\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Margaritas at Fuego in Hotel Maya. Photo by Mona Shadia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/hotelmayalongbeach.com\/fuego-restaurant\/menu\/\">Fuego in Hotel Maya<\/a>, you can enjoy your cocktail with a view of the Queen Mary and downtown cityscape. In honor of the holiday, all margaritas and guacamole are half-price today, with complimentary chips and salsa. On other days, the classic house margarita with\u00a0El Jimador Reposado, fresh lime juice and agave nectar runs just\u00a0$7 during happy hour, Monday through Friday, from 4-6 p.m.\u00a0Fuego bartender Mike Gutierreo says a great margarita is all about balance.\u00a0&#8220;The perfect balance is not too sweet and not too sour, and the juice has to be fresh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999917718\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999917718\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999917718\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Padre_2017-0303-450x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Pepino Margarita from Padre. Broadway<\/a>\u00a0is celebrating one of its favorite\u00a0days with craft margaritas, free gifts and swag. Margaritas are $7 and pitchers are $25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This popular spot\u00a0offers not one but six house margaritas ranging from the classic lime juice and agave to more exotic flavors with hibiscus, cactus juice, cucumber and kiwi. For $11, the Mandarin Tamarind is a tangy sweet refresher with Maestro Dobel tequila, Mandarine Napoleon orange liqueur and tamarind.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999939305\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999939305\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999939305\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_7385-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-999939305\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">House margaritas at Lola&#8217;s on Fourth Street. The frosty\u00a0house margarita features Milagro Silver tequila, orange liqueur, agave, fresh limeade and sea salt. For something spicier, try the cilantro-jalape\u00f1o margarita with fresh muddle jalape\u00f1o or the mango chili, garnished with a slice of dried mango doused in chili power.\u00a0If you&#8217;re feeling fruity, try the agua fresca with pineapple spinach puree.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999939457\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999939457\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999939457\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG-6778-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-999939457\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">House margaritas at Playa Amor. This spot on the eastside is known for its great happy hour, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and\u00a0 Thursday and all day for Taco Tuesday.
