Look, it\u2019s been a long week. I’m tired. You\u2019re tired. We\u2019re all exhausted. What\u2019s worse, things don\u2019t appear to be wrapping up anytime soon<\/a>. As our nerves collectively teeter on the precipice of short circuiting, it seems a bit of escapism is in order.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow night, restaurant, bar and music venue, the Gaslamp will show \u201cGrease\u201d and \u201cSaturday Night Fever\u201d on their outdoor “movie wall” and really, we can\u2019t think of two films better suited to lose yourself in for a few hours.<\/p>\n

Aside from the bliss of seeing heartthrob John Travolta at the peak of his career (not to mention hair volumizing), both films do a terrific job of capturing the essence of the ’50s and ’70s, from the costumes, set designs and dialogue, to the soundtracks, each of which were first and second in the US as the highest-grossing albums sold in their respective years\u2014\u201cSaturday Night Fever\u201d was the top seller in 1977, ushering in the disco era, and \u201cGrease,\u201d placed second place in 1978 behind a little something from Fleetwood Mac called \u201cRumors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday night’s double-bill begins with “Grease” at 7:30 p.m. followed by “Saturday Night Fever” at 9:15 p.m. Movie tickets cost $10 ($15 at the door) but the Gaslamp requires that you book dinner reservations (not included in ticket price) to enjoy the entertainment. Guests will be seated at socially distanced spaced tables on the outdoor patio area and watch the films from their large, elevated screen, otherwise known as their “movie wall.”<\/p>\n
