There was another cube-turned-half pipe complete with skaters trying out the merchandise in real time. In the surf section of the exhibition hall, labeled \u201cThe Point,\u201d a life-size lifeguard station perched atop a man-made beach in a cubicle, complete with sand and lawn chairs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46015\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_5048.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 5048\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ethos of Agenda revolves around embracing originality and the &#8220;lifestyle&#8221; part of the brand; communicating the story and feeling behind each product seems to be as important as the product itself.<\/p>\n<p>Additions to this season\u2019s Agenda included its first \u201cessentials\u201d section (grooming goods, leather goods, soaps, candles and textiles), as well as a section for other little things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time there\u2019s been a pins and patches section,\u201d said Jen Adrion, co-founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/thesearethings.com\/\">These Are Things<\/a>,\u00a0a pin and patch company from Columbus, Ohio. \u201cPins and patches have blown up\u2014it\u2019s really heightened right now. It\u2019s a quick and easy way to personalize an outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adrion gestured to a tiny pin in the display case in front of her. \u201cI mean, you can still look professional with a dripping piece of pizza on your shirt,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46016\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_5064.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 5064\" width=\"620\" height=\"620\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She echoed the sentiments of other exhibitors, emphasizing the number of connections she was able to make at her first Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgenda asked us to come. It\u2019s cool because there\u2019s a community here of people we already kind of knew online, and this is the first time we\u2019re meeting,\u201d said Adrion, adding that Instagram appears to be a crucial platform for displaying pins. (Look up the hashtags <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/explore\/tags\/pingame\/\">#pingame<\/a>\u00a0and #patchgame\u2014you\u2019ll find out what she means.)<\/p>\n<p>Agenda isn\u2019t just a place for buyers from large retail stores to find new products\u2014though everyone is looking to have their brand picked up by the &#8220;big guys&#8221;\u2014it\u2019s also place for makers and creatives to network. Even if a buyer doesn\u2019t pick something up right off the bat, the connections made at Agenda can eventually lead the exhibitor finding a buyer at a later date.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46017\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_5112.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 5112\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Daniel Kasidi, the founder of Rastaclat, a Long Beach-based brand of bracelets\u2014inspired by skater shoelaces, an idea he first had in high school\u2014sold in stores like Zumiez and The Finish Line, said the contacts he made at Agenda for the past five years were crucial to finding buyers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur biggest buyers came from Agenda,\u201d said Kasidi. \u201cStores like Zumiez, Buckley and The Finish Line. Some came directly from the show, some came from contacts made from the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kasidi&#8217;s business was just one one of a few prominent Long Beach-based businesses to make a showing at Agenda. On the other side of the exhibition hall from Rastaclat, Pizzanista!,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/food\/pizzanista\/\">which recently opened a store in Long Beach<\/a>, showed their clothing line amid displays of skate culture-inspired pizza boxes. In the meantime, a portable kitchen in the back cranked out those famous pizzas <em>Post<\/em> writer Asia Morris lauded a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46018\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_5046.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 5046\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no other brand with food and a consumer product here,\u201d said co-owner Solomon Agau, a professional skateboarder. He said Agenda was great for Long Beach because \u201cIt brings a lot of attention and business awareness to Long Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great for the perception of the city,\u201d he said, calling it the epicenter for the culture of the sport and the art and music of the skate subculture. \u201cIt puts Long Beach on the map.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The products on display at Agenda went far beyond clothing and accessories. <a href=\"http:\/\/kaserealestate.com\/\">KASE Real Estate<\/a>, which has an office in Long Beach,\u00a0focuses on selling homes to prominent athletic teams and standout individuals in lifestyle brands. The team from KASE arranged an entire pseudo living room and kitchen\u2014IKEA-style\u2014in the middle of the showroom floor. A little RV sat adjacent to the mid-century modern decor in the cube space.<\/p>\n<p>It was KASE\u2019s first Agenda, according to owner Keven Stirdivant, who started the company in 2011 and established the Long Beach office in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were asked to participate in 2012, but we needed to build confidence,\u201d Stirdivant said. \u201cNow, we\u2019re looking to open offices in Huntington Beach and downtown Los Angeles in the next 45 days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46019\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_5087.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 5087\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Part of KASE\u2019s appeal lies in its catering to the lifestyle of athletes and brands. According to Stirdivant, the company often sells to professional skateboarders, including numerous homes in Long Beach to the likes of Nick Trapasso, Ray Barbee and Chad Tim Tim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do a mix of real estate and personal development\/life coaching [&#8230;] it\u2019s about spirituality and lifestyle,\u201d said Stirdivant, who called his first time as an exhibitor at Agenda as \u201csurreal.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re big on getting to know who people are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As is the mantra of Agenda as a whole, it seems.
