Long Beach’s The Pike Outlets will be getting into the holiday season this Friday evening with a holiday tree lighting and free hot apple cider. The Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration<\/a> <\/strong>will take place from 6:00 to 8:00PM in The Plaza near H&M. The event will include live music and an appearance by Santa Claus too. <\/p>\n

Families hoping to experience The Queen Mary’s newly-revamped 4-D theater<\/a><\/strong> can do so beginning this Friday with a 13-minute showing of The Polar Express 4-D. <\/em>The 121-seat theater will coincide with the look of The Queen Mary to evoke a sense of old Hollywood glamour and art deco style. The show is open during CHILL hours and $8 for adults or $6 for children.<\/p>\n

Theater lovers can check out Bat Boy<\/em> at  Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theater<\/a> <\/strong>until Saturday, November 21. The production is directed by the Playhouse’s Artistic Director Andrew Vonderschmitt. The show opened on Thursday, October 15 and was extended due to large crowds<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Gene Kelly enthusiasts might want to take part in an intimate afternoon with widow, biographer and celebrated film historian Patricia Ward Kelly<\/a><\/strong> at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on Sunday, November 22 during Gene Kelly: The Legacy with Patricia Ward Kelly<\/em>. The event will offer a glimpse into her late husband’s life in a performance that includes rare and familiar film clips, previously unreleased audio recordings, personal memorabilia and insights from her hours of interviews and conversations with her late spouse. The event begins at 2:00PM. <\/p>\n

For the bookish intellectual seeking quick wit and humor this weekend, consider attending an interview between New York Times<\/em> best-selling author Fran Lebowitz<\/a><\/strong> and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) President Jane Close Conoley.
