Celebrate Black History Month by hopping on a virtual event featuring a virtual museum, performances from local artists and musicians, a coffee chat roundtable and more starting Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The event, titled \u201cRhythm In Black: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow,\u201d will allow attendees to interact with speakers from the community and become “immersed in the Black experience,” according to the event description.<\/p>\n

The virtual museum, \u201cForgotten Images,<\/a>\u201d is the traveling exhibit of Sharon and David McLucas, whose large collection of writing, art, and other artifacts depicting the struggles of African Americans in the United States from the 1600s to the Civil Rights Era has been exhibited at several locations over the past decade.<\/p>\n

This event is hosted by Andy Street Community Association<\/a>, a nonprofit based in North Long Beach that seeks resources and opportunities benefiting residents in the community and develops programs that improve quality of life, according to its website.<\/p>\n

City officials including Councilman Al Austin and Mayor Robert Garcia are also scheduled to attend.<\/p>\n

The entire event, which divided into two sessions, starts at around 9 a.m. and ends at around 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
