{"id":23047,"date":"2021-02-10T09:00:07","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T17:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000018528"},"modified":"2021-02-10T15:14:13","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T23:14:13","slug":"bar-and-restaurant-workers-can-stop-by-alexs-bar-friday-for-free-tacos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/bar-and-restaurant-workers-can-stop-by-alexs-bar-friday-for-free-tacos","title":{"rendered":"Bar and restaurant workers can stop by Alex&#8217;s Bar Friday for free tacos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, Feb. 12, restaurant and bar industry workers can stop by Alex&#8217;s Bar for a free plate of fresh, made-from-scratch tacos courtesy of Eddie Rodriguez of City Farmer Taqueria and Curtin Maritime.<\/p>\n<p>The pop-up, which starts at noon and lasts until supplies run out, was conceived by Rodriguez as a way to uplift food and beverage industry workers during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Food brings up morale and brings people together,&#8221; Rodriguez said.<\/p>\n<p>Guests can choose from a plate with three tacos (choice of beef birria, pork carnitas, chorizo, or cauliflower chorizo), multias, tortas or papas gordas (potato confit). Image courtesy Eddie Rodriguez.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rodriguez said he&#8217;s prepping enough food for 300 people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t wanna show up with a bunch of free food and nobody get it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first pop-up Rodriguez has organized at Alex&#8217;s Bar; last month he handed out free, made-to-order pizzas. Seeing that so many people had shown up to take one home was encouraging, but he wanted to do more.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez is currently the executive head chef at Curtin Maritime, a marine construction company in the Port of Long Beach. Prior to the pandemic, Rodriguez had started his own taco pop-up, City Farmer Taqueria, but had to shut down due to the pandemic.
