In an effort to break down some of the divides between <\/span>the Black and Brown communities, t<\/span>he African American Cultural Center of Long Beach and the Museum of Latin America Art will co-host a virtual event that aims to give the opportunity for members of those communities to listen to each other through storytelling Tuesday night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting at 6<\/span> p.m., \u201cDe colores: A Black & Brown Conversation,\u201d<\/span> a free event that’s part of MOLAA’s 2021 Afro-Latinx Festival<\/a><\/span>, will be co-hosted by\u00a0Tasha Hunter of the AACCLB and Griselda Su\u00e1rez\u00a0of the Arts Council for Long Beach, who will facilitate the conversation. The event will also feature<\/span> Ryan Hoyle and Bresheena Baseel, who will share stories related to bridging cultures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We hope for this to be\u00a0<\/span>the first of many conversations,<\/span>\u201d Hunter said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hoyle is<\/span> an adjunct professor and founder and co-owner of Play Nice<\/a> Long Beach, and his passion lies in bridging the gap between education and outcomes in creative professions and industries. Last year, his business was known for having a community refrigerator stocked with food<\/a> to uplift people in need during the pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Baseel, a first generation American of a Belizean father and a Salvadoran mother, founded of Azucar Negra Productions<\/a>, an event production company that focuses on exposing the community to t<\/span>he diversity tha<\/span>t exist<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>within<\/span>\u00a0Africa<\/span>n<\/span>\/Black culture. <\/span>She was\u00a0<\/span>heavily<\/span> involved with multiple student organizations during her academic career and continues her work in community organizing through\u00a0<\/span>Original Blackprint<\/a>, an Oakland-based organization geared towards holistically transforming the material conditions of<\/span>\u00a0African\/Black people.<\/span><\/p>\n
