Image courtesy of New Life Beginnings.<\/em><\/p>\n New Life Beginnings (NLB), a Long Beach-based nonprofit organization, has been selected as the recipient of a restricted $30,000 grant from the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation to support \u201cThe Beginning,\u201d a new shelter facility to serve local women and their children.<\/p>\n NLB was established in 1984 by two homemakers who saw the need to support the diverse population of homeless women and their children in the community.<\/p>\n The initial award has sparked a $50,000 challenge grant from an anonymous donor that will bring a total of $100,000 to the project if matched by local contributions.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are so excited for this news and thankful to the Trustees of the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation for believing in our mission to help women and their children in their time of need,\u201d said Rebecca Younger, president of New Life Beginnings, in a statement. \u201cNow we only need to raise $20,000 to receive this wonderful challenge grant to complete the project.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the release, \u201cThe Beginning,\u201d to depict a butterfly-shaped \u201cB,\u201d was named after Rivera\u2019s signature symbol representing beauty, love and renewal. The foundation is dedicated to serving single mothers with children so they can achieve stability, independence and a higher quality of life.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are very happy to be able to help New Life Beginnings to make this program expansion possible and to serve additional women and their children from Long Beach,\u201d said Jacqie Rivera Camos, president of the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation, in a statement. \u201cJenni grew up in Long Beach and we know that she would be so happy and proud that her foundation can make such a difference in the lives of those she loved most.”<\/p>\n The late singer, songwriter, actress and TV producer\u2019s foundation is managed by her immediate family.
